Director's Note

Doug Hammett and I began working on WE are the Kingdum of Lear in spring semester 2019. During that time, we began to focus on the ways that leadership can turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the voices of the people and of the planet.

 

This experimental reimagining considers the old adage “Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

 

If Aesop, Brecht, Beckett, Pina Bausch and Monty Python got together and became a Commedia dell’arte troupe, they might make a show that looks something like this.

 

Time and Place: Medieval mix of future, fantasy, and dementia.
