Perla Barajas - TANIA
Perla Barajas is a sophomore at the University of Redlands. When she’s not on stage, she can be found crafting a new project. She’s had previous roles as Smee in Peter and the StarCatcher and Ralph in Lord of the Flies. This is her first live performance since the pandemic, and is very excited to perform for you. Enjoy the show!
Rachel Fay Kanevsky - VIRGINIA
Fay is a Junior in the Johnston program, their current emphasis is Accessibility through Comedic Art. Fay has been doing theater since she was very young. Some of her credits include: Amandine/Georgette in Amelie, Malvolio in Twelfth night, Mrs. Jennings in Sense and Sensibility, Hermia in a Midsummer's Night Dream, and Mary Sunshine in Chicago. They would like to thank their service dog, Juniper, for helping them through this process. She hopes you have a Fence-tastic time!
Jaime Schwartz - PABLO
Jaime is a Freshman at the University of Redlands and they are excited to make their university debut in Native Gardens. Although this is their first show here, Jaime has been performing in theater since 7th grade graduating as a thespian from Redlands High School. He hopes to continue participating in community theater and is proud of the city he calls home.
August Jolly - FRANK
August (He/they) is a senior majoring in English and minoring in Theatre Arts at the University of Redlands and Native Gardens is their first live, in-person show! They were involved in the Spring 2021 Devised Piece as a writer, performer, and musician, but they are very excited to be playing the role of Frank Butley in Native Gardens. They also hope to keep working in the often-overlapping realm of theatre arts and literature after graduating.
Kayleigh Stelling - ENSEMBLE
Kayleigh is a Theatre Arts major with a Psychology minor and is so happy to be starting off her senior year by performing in Native Gardens. In previous years, she has done both acting and design work, including an ensemble/supporting role in She Kills Monsters and lighting design for Almost Maine at the University of Redlands. After graduation, Kayleigh hopes to work in theme park entertainment operations.
Kass Zornado- ENSEMBLE
Kass is a Junior at the University of Redlands, with a Theatre Business major and a Mathematics minor. Their primary interest is musical theatre, but they love being involved with every facet of the theatre process. Kass has experience co-directing and doing crew work throughout high school and college. They have worked with the U of R scene shop on building several sets, including the set for Native Gardens. They are also looking forward to being assistant stage manager for the upcoming U of R play, The Legend of Georgia McBride. They hope you enjoy that show, as well as Native Gardens.
Arhim Wilson - ENSEMBLE
Previously worked on Gruesome Playground Injuries (Costume Protégé), Almost, Maine (Co-Costume Designer respectively) and New Works Festival of Fall 2020 (as Jack/Narrator and Gavin), Anthony (Arhim) Wilson is a senior here at the U of R studying for B.A in Computer Science with a story telling emphasis in Spanish and Theater Arts. He is extremely ecstatic and thrilled to be casted as the Garden Surveyor and Business Inspector for Native Gardens.
On top of that, he is also the lead Costume Designer for this production and would like to acknowledge and thank so many people who have given him this opportunity to show his multitude of talents. "This show is something that means a lot to me. Not only is it the first show of a female, colored playwright artist that Director Gabriel Rodriguez fought for to premiere and showcase here, but it is also a physical/verbal depiction that addresses a variety of hard-hitting concepts that continue to be an ongoing crisis in today's times. My only request is for you, the audience, to enjoy and envision what it would be like to be in someone else's shoes for day in this particular setting.
